You'll go nuts for the nutty topping on these butterscotchy delights!
1 1/2 cuprs all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Nutty Topping (see below)
1 square semi-sweet bakers chocolate
Nutty Topping:
Melt 1/4 cup butter in saucepan.
Add and mix 1/3 cup of each sugar and corn syrup, 2 tbls water and 1/4 tsp salt.
Bring toa boil. Let boil for 4 minutes, stir constantly.
Stir in 11/2 cups sliced almonds
Combine flour and baking powder, set aside.
Melt butter in a saucepan. Remove from heat, blend in sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture.
Spread batter in a greased 13x9 pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 350.
Spread Nutty Topping evenly over surface. Bake for 15 minutes longer. Cool
Melt chocolate square and drizzle over pan.
